GT’s Gamer Babe Interview #3: Danielle “Panserbjørne of Azuremyst”

Ahhh, the wondrous and elusive nature of hot gamer girls.  Some say they don’t exist.  That they’re nothing but a myth.  A fairy tale, told by geeky fathers to their nerdy sons, in the hopes that one day, their socially inept offspring will walk down the aisle with that special girl who pwn’d him back in the college dorms to be pronounced Plumber and Peach.  A pipe dream, they say.

Well, I’m here to prove otherwise.  The hot gamer girl does exist.  She walks among us, sniping us in the head and Hadouken’ing her way into our hearts, leaving us breathless and in tears as she walks away with our spinal columns in her grasp.

This is GT’s Gamer Babe Interview, a feature where I, your humble gaming host, will [hopefully] manage to interview one hot gamer babe per week for the enjoyment and education of my fellow gaming gentlemen.  Do you pwn her?  Or do you allow her to pwn you?  Do you pull out your joystick on the first date?  Or do you sit back and enjoy watching her play by herself for a while?  So many questions!  So few answers!

Well, we’re here to fix all that, but I’ve rambled long enough, and 99% of you haven’t even read a word of this anyway.  So without further ado, allow me to introduce…

Danielle

I happened across Danielle quite randomly, actually.  My wife found a video on YouTube of Danielle counting down the Top 9 Gamer Babes of All Time, a list in which she was horribly underranked.  Her infectiously sweet personality and camera presence caused me to promptly send her an email requesting an interview, and much to my surprise,  she quickly replied with an affirmative.

I had a chat with Danielle this morning, and man, everything she had to say was awesome.  She and I have never met before, never interacted at all before today, but you’d never guess it looking at how the interview [really a chat] unfolded.  I laughed, I cried, I think I nostalgia’d a little bit in my clean khakis.  Thanks for that, Danielle…

Ryan: Hey Danielle!  How are you doing this morning?

Danielle: I’m doing great!  =] Thanks for asking!  Just hit level 80 on my 4th toon this morning in World of Warcraft!

Ryan: Geez!  Uhh, I’m kind of a n00b at the whole MMO thing, so about how long would you say you’ve had to play to get to the point you reached this morning?

Danielle: OMG, it’s really bad!  Probably like 125 – 150 days if I had to guess.  I checked about 8 months ago, so I’m not quite sure.

Ryan: Wow…holy crap!  Well hey, tell me a little bit about yourself.

Danielle: Like what?

Ryan: Just stuff like age, dating status, what you look for in a guy, favorite game of all time, etc.  Y’know, stuff for the dudes.

Danielle: Lol, well, I’m 22, engaged, and because of that, I don’t look for anything in a guy anymore.  And my favorite game of all time is World of Warcraft.  Lok’tar Ogar!

Ryan: Does your fiancé ever game with you?

Danielle: Oh yes!  When he first moved into my apartment, I didn’t play WoW at all.  Just console games.  We always fought about how much time he spent on WoW, and after a couple months of that nonsense, he convinced me to try it.

Ryan: And the rest is history?

Danielle: Lol, yep, and now I am obsessed! LMAO!

Ryan: Haha! See, I think my wife and I just had an extremely similar event right after getting the 360.  Now I have to pry the controller from her hands if I wanna play anything but Halo 3.

Danielle: Your wife plays Halo?! WIN!

Ryan: Yep, we’re both new to it, but we’re both getting a lot better.

Danielle: Awesome. OMG! I just found a Pokemon emulator on my computer while looking for pictures to send you! Win win win!

Ryan: Lol, you’re talking oldschool, right?  Red and Blue?

Danielle: Red FTW, obviously.

Ryan: Pssh!  Blue, woman!

Danielle: No, you are mistaken… Charmander!

[This back-and-forth went on for far longer than I'll ever let you guys actually see]

Ryan: Well fine then. Lol!  Anyway, I need to know more about this picture:

Danielle: Lol!

Ryan: It raises some…questions [eyebrows], not least of which is “Am I reading too deeply into the fact that she appears to be tied up?”

Danielle: Lol, blame Swifty!

Ryan: Who now?

Danielle: Swifty (on YouTube) was holding a contest where you had to enter a picture of you+your headset to win a new razor headset.  That was my entry.

Ryan: And how’d the contest turn out?

Danielle: Winner has not been picked yet… =X

Ryan: Damn, well keep us posted on that.  And I see you have a tattoo.  I’ve been trying to figure out what it is.

Danielle: It’s 2 koi fish and some violets in water, a design I found online.  Wish I didn’t get it…

Ryan: Oh, really?  Why’s that?

Danielle: Well, everyone thinks it’s the astrological sign for pisces, and it’s not, and I’m not even a pisces. Lol!  I like it as a tattoo and it’s well done, but whenever I hear pisces, I’m like, “omg wtf grrr how did I not see that!?!?!”

Ryan: Lol!

Danielle: Meh, whatever…

Ryan: Back to the picture,  regarding the 360 controller in your hands.  Now that you’re hardcore WoW, is that all you play or do you hit up consoles every once in a while?

Danielle: OMG, I  <3 the consoles!  I have gotten up to a 44 in Slayer and Doubles in Halo 3 (without getting carried, tyvm lol).  I also play Call of Duty 4, and I like the Xbox Arcade games you can download, too, like Geomtry Wars.

Ryan: Ohhh man, don’t even get me started on Geometry Wars. I love that game.  Any console besides the 360?

Danielle: Not yet, but I’m now in the market for a PS3 or a Wii.  Our second 360 just RROD’d so instead of getting another one, we’re probably just going to replace it with a Wii.

Ryan: Wait, so you no longer have a 360?  How are we supposed to game?!

Danielle: Lol, no we had two 360′s with two TV’s set up side by side. F*** split screen, in my opinion!

Ryan: Oh, geez, double 360′s?!  You don’t mess around, do you?

Danielle: Well, that’s not the case anymore, unfortunately…  *mourn*

Ryan: [face_rose]

Danielle: Lol!

Ryan: What games do you plan on getting first for the Wii?

Danielle: I want so many games for Wii!  Super Smash Bros. and the new Mario as well as the 10th Anniversary Spyro game!

Ryan: I will whoop your ass in some Super Smash Bros. Brawl.  It’ll be just as nasty as if you kick my ass in Halo 3.

Danielle: Yeah, probably so.  I haven’t even played Brawl.  I’ve only played Melee on the Cube.  But seriously, Cube FTW.

Ryan: I loved GameCube.  I never understood all the hate.  It really did have some fantastic games.

Danielle: Haters exist in the shadow of awesome… Wow, I just made that up.  Quote that shit. Lol!

Ryan: Oh come on, there’s no way you just made that up.  Just like that?

Danielle: I swear on this cup of coffee.

Ryan: Overly caffeinated badass quotes FTW.

Danielle: Lol!

Ryan: A little more serious now, would you say you ever see a negative stigma attached to being a gamer girl in an online world of socially awkward dudes who have no clue how to act when one of you is present?  How much bullshit do you have to put up with?

Danielle: Yes, absolutely.  The other day, I left a raid I was main tanking because the offtank kept calling me “sweet cheeks.”

Ryan: Geez.

Danielle: I actually don’t put up with much BS on WoW though, mainly because a lot of people know who I am from YouTube.

Ryan: That makes sense.

Danielle: But I rarely use a mic on Xbox Live because guys are idiots, lol!  Unless I am raping everyone, then I plug it in to brag!

Ryan: Lol, I bet they looove that.

Danielle: But otherwise, ‘Mute’ is FTW!

Ryan: FTMFW.  I usually mute everyone I’m not in a party with already.  But hey, speaking of YouTube, the 3 or 4 people who come to The Gamer’s Thumb (I kid…) may not be aware of your success online.  How did you get started over there anyway?

Danielle: Just a silly hobby. =)

Ryan: Really?!  A silly hobby nets you hundreds of thousands of video views?

Danielle: Well, it’s a little more than that now, lol!  But that’s how it started.

Ryan: And now you’re working with VSauce?

Danielle: Um, ish?  Lol.  I definitely plan on working with them in the future.  VSauce/BarelyPolitical is amazing!

Ryan: Awesome!  Well hey, I think that just about covers it all.  Is there anything you’d like to add before you get outa here?  Anything at all.

Danielle: Ummm…Spay and neuter your pets! =3  Seriously, that shit’s important!

Ryan: D’awwwwww!  Adorable picture is adorable!

Ryan: I guess that wraps it up.  Thanks for chatting with me on your day off. Now go get some gaming in!
