Tyler Suits’ Favorite Game(s) of All Time: Halo…All of Them!

By: Tyler Suits

Never has a game character captivated a generation so much as a 7ft man in a green armored suit with a smokin’ hot cyber chick in his helmet. Halo has been one of the most addictive games I have ever played and I can confidently say it will always be my favorite game series. Every Halo game (Combat Evolved, 2, 3, and ODST) gives you the most unique story lines, best gameplay, and, by far, the worlds best online play.

Halo: Combat Evolved broke all kinds of ground the day of its release. I honestly did not know one person who owned an Xbox and did not have Halo. I spent hours upon hours playing the campaign over and over and over until I mastered every level; I can probably still play the game blindfolded. That is until I reach the Flood… Man, I hate the Flood…

Halo 2… Oh, Halo 2.  I cant even begin to explain how many countless days I spent playing Halo 2 online, and not only playing, but beating the hell out of n00bs. The campaign was epic.  The continuing story line from the Flood to the “Truth” ensured that the game was intense and full of nonstop action. The ability to drive alien Wraiths and being able to duel-wield different weapons changed the way I thought about gaming once again. Also, Cortana is so much hotter in this game.  Well, I mean if she was real, I guess… *ahem*… Oh, don’t forget the super jump glitches online! ;)

Halo 3:  You know those people who stand in line for hours to get a new game?  Deterred by neither rain, sleet, snow, blazing sun or pitch black midnight?  Yeah, that’s me. The day I got the game, I beat the campaign and then spent the rest of the weekend (2 days) playing online. I ran though a 12 pack of batteries for the controller and my Xbox 360 cut off twice (it just couldn’t handle my awesomeness).

And as for my thoughts on the Halo Reach Beta: I personally think the Halo Reach Beta has reached (puns!) its peak for now. I honestly don’t see too many things that needs to be changed. Maybe more health packs would be nice? I think Sword Base only has one, maybe two.  My favorite game type has to be Slayer; just good ol’ Slayer. Second would probably be a tie between Grab Bag and Invasion.

One thing about the series that is really awesome, in my opinion, is the assassinations; it’s just adding kick-ass sauce to an already kick-ass omelet. Also, two words: JET PACKS! I believe Reach will be the biggest overall success in Halo history in terms of sales and game play when it releases this September.

Halo on Xbox Live changed my view of online gaming forever. What makes Halo so great online is that it’s always a fair game. Never does one side have a unfair advantage over the other and everyone has access to the same weapons. Not calling names or anything, but some games give some gamers (who are not as skilled) a better chance.

So how good am I at Halo?  Well, here’s just one screen shot of my old gamer tag after a round of Slayer: 31 and 1. That’s a nuke in some games…

Kind of like my stats in Team Fortress 2 on PC. Alas, those skills don’t carry on over to Halo 3 haha: http://twitpic.com/2arlsb
