Nintendo News 6-14-11

Some new developments have been revealed regarding the power behind the Wii U and clarifications are made on a free DSi Ware title!

Many gamers are still having a hard time wrapping their heads around the power behind Nintendo’s recently announced Wii U, but in a recent Q&A between IBM and Gizmodo, more details have come to light.

IBM hinted that the chip powering the Wii U is somewhat outdated, but still capable of powering graphics and framerates higher than those of the PS3 and Xbox 360. Crytek, creators of the hugely popular game, Crysis, have even gone on the record to state that the Wii U is “pretty much” running the CryEngine successfully. What “pretty much” means is beyond me, but if these words are to be taken seriously, this means that the Wii U is capable of running the most technologically demanding engine in gaming to date. Crysis: Wii U Edition? We’ll see…

In DSi and 3DS news, Nintendo has revelaed that the version of Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures that will be available for FREE download on DSi Ware is the GameBoy Advance version, not the GameCube version.

The game will still sport 4-player cooperative/competitive play, though nothing has been mentioned on whether Wifi will be supported.

Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures will be available via DSi Ware this September.
