Voice Actor Spotlight: Laura Bailey

Remember when I said that I’d introduce you all to Travis WIllingham’s wife when I first wrote his VA Spotlight?

Ok, so I’m like…3 weeks late with this, but hey, better late than never, right? Besides, she’s been in a ton of shit, and a real cutey to boot, so I’d say she was worth the wait.

Laura Bailey was born May 28, 1981 in Biloxi Mississippi. And as mentioned above, she is married to fellow video game and anime VA, Travis Willingham, and was once roommates with Colleen Clinkenbeard. Other than this, there’s really not much on her early or personal life on the interwebs, so onto the roles!

Bailey has gone on record to say that her favorite character role is that of Shin Nohara from the hilariously raunchy adult anime, Shin-Chan. But whether you realize it or not, Bailey is the woman behind some of the most popular video game and anime characters of all time, both male and female.

Where to begin? Bailey has voiced Kid Trunks in the Dragonball saga, Chun-Li in Street Fighter IV and every evolution of it since, Keiko Yukimura from Yu-Yu Hakasho, Lust of Fullmetal Alchemist, Rayne of Blood Rayne, Serah Ferron from Final Fantasy XIII, Isara Gunther from Valkyria Chronicles and as Catherine, from the fantastic video game by Atlus bearing the same name.

Her list of credited roles is extensive, but she’s also one of the least credited voice actors so far in this series. Why a talent such as hers would go uncredited is beyond me, but nonetheless, here’s a list of characters  you won’t see attributed to her when the credits roll at the end of a game or TV show:

Platinum The Trinity of BlazBlu Continuum Shift, Raspberyl of the Disgaea series, Spinel of Crimson Gem Saga, the female protagonist in Persona 3 Portable, Shura of Soul Caliber IV and Christie Monteiro of Tekken 6.

Admit it, you've played as Christie for the sole purpose of watching her jiggle around...

Laura is also featured in a number of upcoming titles, including Mario and Sonic at the London Olympic Games as Blaze the Cat and Star Wars: The Old Republic hitting PC in the VERY near future.
